Wow saxophone fans, we are so excited to present this stunning Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor for sale! This is a 42xxx serial number that dates it back to 1950, where it was hand-made in Paris, France. This tenor is American-engraved and features the iconic lush floral designs that extend down into the bow area. This SBA has so much of its original 1950 dark honey nitrocellulose lacquer remaining on it. There is some minor lacquer wearing in commonly handled areas from normal use over its 70+ year lifetime; however, for its age, it is overall very clean. The original serial number matching neck is absolutely perfect with no pull-down or any signs of previous damage. There is a small dent in the bottom bow rooster that was intentionally left in to preserve the lacquer and originality of the horn. It in no way affects the playability of the horn and is purely cosmetic. We gave this SBA the full overhaul and restoration it deserves. It is now fitted with pro Italian leather pads and seamless metal dome resonators, playing and sealing perfectly. Super Balanced Actions are becoming increasingly rare to source. To see an original lacquer tenor in this condition is truly astounding! This tenor is one of very few that not only looks stunning but also has an unbelievable sound. It has wonderful buzzy highs and robust punchy lows. Of course, it's all built on that iconic dark Selmer core foundation. This is a truly one-of-a-kind tenor that does NOT come through the shop often. Don't hesitate on this one; it won't be around for long!
