This gorgeous chemically lacquer stripped SBA is a PLAYERS horn and is NOT geared towards a collector. It truly plays beautifully and the pads are in fantastic condition and have been completely replaced in very recent past. The serial number is 52xxx which places the year of production to approximately 1953! This SBA seems to be a custom order from Selmer Non engraved American Version with an additional High F# key. The Original neck is included and DOES have the matching serial number stamping on it, however the neck has had pull down in the past which was professionally repaired and also the neck was patched (just like Seamus Blake’s SBA tenor with a patch on the side of the neck: see photos) There are no major dings or dents in the instrument although the bottom bow rooster tail has a few dings in it.
The sound and feel of this tenor however is absolutely AMAZING, and would be perfect for someone who wants to play a Killer wide open singing SBA Tenor for under $9,400 and needs nothing! It plays absolutely fantastic.
