Just into our shop is this Selmer Mark VI alto! This horn, with a 116xxx serial number, dates back to 1964 and was hand-made in Paris, France. It’s an American-engraved model from Selmer’s long bow configuration era. Much of its gorgeous dark honey nitrocellulose lacquer remains intact, giving it a truly stunning appearance. There’s a small dent in the rooster of the bottom bow that was intentionally left to preserve the lacquer condition. The original, serial-number-matching neck is free from pull-down or signs of past repair. This horn was just professionally overhauled outside our shop, and after a careful inspection and quick setup, it’s playing and sealing beautifully. Not only does this horn look incredible, but it’s also a serious player. It has exactly what you’d expect from a Mark VI of this vintage: projection and brilliance built on the dark, rich Selmer core. These early six-digit VIs are some of our absolute favorite horns—offering great sound, excellent intonation, and killer response. Don’t miss out on this one—it won’t be here for long!
