This 38xxx Super Balanced Action dates back to 1949 and was made in Paris, France. It’s an American-engraved tenor that has been relacquered at some point in its life. Most of the lacquer has since worn down to bare brass, giving it a beautiful, natural patina. Although the neck is American-engraved and assembled, it is not stamped with a serial number. However, underneath the neck cork are the matching last three digits of the horn’s serial number, confirming that it is original to the body tube. The neck is overall quite clean and free from pull-down or other damage. A repairman in the past has added an outside patch on the receiver. The bottom bow is also clean and free from damage. This tenor received a set of new pads with solid brass resonators from a technician outside our shop. After a thorough inspection and adjustment, it is sealing well and playing perfectly. If you’ve been looking for a player's Super Balanced Action that won’t break the bank like the original lacquer ones, this is the horn for you. Don’t miss your opportunity—it won’t be here for long!
