Saxophone fans, check out this great alto that just went up for sale at our shop! You might recognize this one from the “Coming Soon” section of our website. It just came off the bench after a full overhaul at our shop. The serial number is in the 72xxx range, dating it to early 1958. Of course, this sax was handmade in Paris, France, then assembled, lacquered, and engraved in Elkhart, Indiana, USA. During this production period, Mark VI altos were made with the short bow configuration. This one has been relacquered, but fortunately it was not heavily buffed. The American engraving is still clearly visible through the dark, aged relacquer. The original serial number-matching neck is in great condition and shows no pull-down. Overall, the body is quite clean, and the bottom bow is free from dents as well. This alto needs nothing and is ready to gig! Short bow altos in this serial range have some of the most amazing sounds out there! Plenty of projection but lots of dark Selmer core.
