Saxophone fans, check out this mouthpiece that just came in. This is something you certainly do not see everyday! This is an original 7* No USA Florida Otto Link. This beautiful piece was hardly played as seen by the original gold plating that is still in tact! This is a 7* and has not been altered in any way. This is indicated by the presence of the plating on the table still. With the Theo Wanne tip gauge, it actually measures closer to a .110" or 8. This was considered to be a very large tip opening during this time of production and was not played by many players. These larger openings were made by special order and not often hence the inconsistency in the tip openings. This piece is amazing as it and we do not recommend sending this one for a refacing. It plays great as is and is practically a collectors piece in this condition.

From Theo Wanne's Mouthpiece Museum website:

"Otto Link started putting nickel plating under the gold, instead of silver. Gold does not adhere well to raw brass so an intermediate material is needed. Silver works well, but it is also soft like gold so it wears quickly. Nickel is much harder, and lasts a lot longer.  The gold they used was very thin though, so it would rub off easily even with normal hand handling. Many of the Florida mouthpieces we see today are a shiny nickel-silver color due to the gold plating rubbing off."
